New housing estates in rural environment In modern architecture ‘green amenities’ are taken as a key point from the design stage onwards. By using the ‘Green Screen’ an instant green and environmentally friendly area is created, providing full privacy within a natural setting. In addition the increasingly important security factor is taken care of. Back garden in rural setting
New housing estates in urban areas Used as a boundary between different buildings the ‘Green Screen’ creates a rustic atmosphere between the many brick walls and wooden fences present. As the compact panels only take a little room, precious space remains available for other purposes. The metal security fence, although hardly visible, prevents children and pets from leaving the fenced area whilst maintaining a green and pleasant environment.
City garden and parks The application of ‘Green Screens’ in established city gardens and parks attracts wild life and helps create natural areas instantly which can be easily controlled and maintained. In renovation projects of old city gardens and parks ‘Green Screens’ can provide a natural solution for security and privacy without claiming scarce space.

Sound barrier The Mobilane® ‘Green Screen’ can provide uniform green coverage of concrete sound barriers and gabions. The foliage will reduce the visual impact of these objects which are often regarded as ‘sky-line pollution’. In addition the living fence also provides shelter for insects and small mammals together with nesting places for birds. Motorways The ‘Green Screen’ can be used to create visual boundaries for industrial areas, housing estates which border onto motorways. When used as sight breaker between motorway intersections and slip roads the hedging panels can improve road safety.
Industrial areas Two important features for industrial areas can be dealt with by installing the ‘Green Screen’. The ever increasing need for a green environment whilst providing a secure perimeter is covered by the use of our product.
The Mobilane® ‘Green Screen’ is a living fence, consisting of a 5mm weld mesh galvanised steel security fence covered with plants. The plants are grown in a biodegradable pot, which is fitted at the bottom of the metal fence. Once the ‘Green Screen’ is installed the pot will degrade completely in the soil.
The ‘Green Screen’ is available in different sizes and with various types of plants, including Ivy, Beech and Hornbeam.
Metal grid
The metal fence is purposely produced for the ‘Green Screen’ by Bekaert (supplier of premium metal products). The mesh size and wire diameter is:
Mesh dimensions Wire thickness Green Screen dimensions
100mm x 250mm 5mm 1.20m (length) x 1.80m (height) standard 1.20m (length) x 1.20m (height)
Biodegradable pot
The biodegradable pot is made of coconut fibres bonded together by natural latex and is used to contain the potting soil during the production process of the ‘Green Screen’. Once the ‘Green Screen’ is installed this biological material will degrade completely in the soil, allowing the root system to develop into the subsoil. The degrading process takes approximately one to two years, depending on the soil type, nutrient levels and moisture contents.
Products
The ‘Green Screens’ are grown by several professional nurseries, which are all certified by QualiTree. This is an integrated quality system for nursery stock companies, guaranteeing a high standard quality assured management system which in turn assures product quality and environmental care standards. The ‘Green Screen’ is available with the following plants:
Hedera (ivy)
Carpinus (horn beam)
Fagus (beech)
